Pico alleges that he was born in 1982 at Mirandola in Italy and will die (he asserts) at Florence in 2013. His father is Cypriot and his mother is Italian. He lives and works in Cyprus.
His original christening name was Philippos Patsalis. At the age of 12 he became obsessed with the Italian philosopher Pico de Mirandola to the extent that he identified himself with Pico.
He graduated from the University of Bologna. After his theological studies he completed two theses on Cabala and NeoPlatonism. During the same period he commenced a study on contemporary art.
His illicit actions (performance/installation) on noise pollution in Florence had disturbed the authorities and he was arrested during an unauthorized demolition of an uninhabited building that he called "architectural cancer".
His recent work entails impersonating other artists, creating authentic works based on their artistic language, while mutating their known histories at the same time. For his representation at the "Do not feed the humans" exhibition he has based his work on the Philippino artist Manuel Ocambo (1965) 'whose mind and soul", as Pico well put it "is described beautifully by the title of the show".
